As a partner of the Abu Dhabi Mangrove Initiative (ADMI) you can ensure that your investment will have measurable positive impact on nature and people and contribute to effective climate change action, supporting the UAE’s national climate goals. You will be partnering with the leading environmental agency in the region, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), gaining recognition through formal events, including media events, international conferences, ADMI presentations and promotional materials and promoting environmental awareness and engagement among staff.

Join the ADMI as a Corporate Partner

Corporate Partners directly support at least one ADMI identified coastal/blue carbon /nature-based solution project locally or globally (a research, education, conservation, or restoration project on coastal and marine ecosystems). Joining the ADMI as a Corporate Partner enables you to validate your restoration project, obtain scientific guidance and technical oversight, attend ADMI partner meetings, communicate credible scientific and accurate information about your project in coordination with EAD as well as review and evaluate the outcomes of your restoration project following implementation.

  • Capital and operational costs involved in establishing a state-of-the-art mangrove nursery and innovation centre in Abu Dhabi.

Scientific Partners Supporting ADMI

Scientific Partners advise on the technical elements that support the implementation of the ADMI programme e.g., supporting the development of capacity building tools developed by ADMI. Their scientific and technical expertise on mangrove and blue carbon ecosystem conservation, research and restoration is part of an ongoing or planned collaboration programme under the ADMI. The strategic workplan is steered by the ADMI steering committee, ADMI’s founding institutions of EAD and Zoological Society of London.

The United Nations Ocean Decade Programme for Blue Carbon in the Global Ocean (GO-BC) is honoured to be partnering with the Abu Dhabi Mangrove Initiative. The GO-BC science technical working group are available to support blue carbon science needs for global mangrove restoration initiatives (and connected blue carbon ecosystems), ensuring that robust evidence is available to support projects and communities where blue carbon outcomes are

sought to demonstrate additionality and permanence. The GO-BC secretariat and lead are based at the University of St Andrews, United Kingdom and can be contacted directly through they would be delighted to hear from you and connect you with the growing global network of blue carbon experts or the new blue carbon capacity-building partnership with WWF.

The Global Coastal Wetlands Lab is an international group undertaking multi-disciplinary research to further biodiversity conservation and restoration of coastal wetlands. Bringing together experts from leading academic institutions and conservation organisations, they focus on the themes of Restoration and Conservation Innovation, Ecosystem Services, People and Nature and Coastal Ecosystem Mapping at landscape and global scales. The Global Coastal Wetlands Lab is part of the Conservation Science Group at the University of Cambridge.
